Barcelona from May 10-15th
Sunday May 10th flew into Barcelona at around noon, took the aeroport bus into the city center, our hotel was only a 5 minute walk, we checked into the hotel and first thing we did was head for the alleys, our favorite thing to do in Europe, we planned on going to the Picasso Museum, it was free on Sundays after 3 PM. The line up was a few blocks so we decided to skip it and walk to the Parc de la Ciutadella
Walked to the beach after strolling the park, and along the waterfront, a fun day indeed.
Afterwards walked up to the La Rambla and called it an early night.
Woke up and went to the Boqueria Market for coffee and smoothies and a cup of fruit, good fuel food for our big day.
We took the subway up to Park Guell, we had a reserved time for 9.30 AM, we arrived early and they let us in early, the park was beautiful and not too crowded.
Headed down towards the La Sagrada Familia, bought my grand daughter a Gaudi Hello Kitty T-shirt. We arrived early and went to a buffet restaurant just outside the la Sagrada Familia. Had a few hours to kill, it was hot, I just rested in the shade well Larry my Boyfriend ran all over the place. Our time slot for the church was at 3.15 PM, they would not let us in early so we just waited around. The wait was worth it. Beautiful inside and out, pictures do in no justice.
Afterwards walked down to the Passeig de Gràcia, one of Barcelona’s famous streets. The buildings were breathtaking
Walked down to the Barcelona Cathedral to see the famous saucy geese, the cathedral was beautiful.
The rest of the week we walked alleyways in all the old neighborhoods, we went up the Christopher Columbus statue had some awesome views, I had to go down early as I can feel the statue swaying back and forth. We went to the magic fountain but was quite disappointed as there was a car rally going on and it blocked the views, and the night show was cancelled. Good excuse to come back next year. We had an awesome time in Barcelona, not long enough though, 4.5 days went to fast. We ate some awesome food which did not break us. I really loved Barcelona. Below is my budget eats for Barcelona
